EdReady Math (4th Grade)

During the 2021-2022 school year, we will continue to offer free access to EdReady Math and EdReady English to Michigan families. For further details, please visit https://michiganvirtual.org/students/edready/ rather than enrolling in the Student Learning Portal (SLP). Registration for EdReady requires the use of a valid email address. EdReady Math courses are for personalized enrichment or remediation. They do not follow a standardized pacing guide and may vary greatly in the length of time required for individual students to complete the content. EdReady Math courses are not 21f eligible, as it is intended for use under the supervision of local school personnel, or the student's parents or guardians.

EdReady Math permits students to self-assess for mastery of grade-level knowledge and skills and readiness their next math course. EdReady uses diagnostic testing to establish personalized study paths to fill in learning gaps and to reinforce understanding. Each EdReady Math goal contains between 20-80 learning topics aimed at fully preparing students for readiness for the next grade level. Online instruction follows a consistent structure of... 1. Test EdReady also utilizes a variety of topic-specific, media-rich resources, including an embedded glossary, NROC Developmental Math content, Khan Academy, and more. As students demonstrate mastery of each skill and learning topic in their study path, they see their goal score increase as evidence of progress toward their target score of 100. Course Objectives:

1. Students will supplement their local math instruction with quality, personalized, media-rich online math content.

2. Students will master topic-specific math concepts and skills.

3. Students will be prepared for success in their next grade level or math course.

Course Outline:

GOAL 1: Introduction to Whole Numbers Place Value and Names for Whole Numbers Rounding Whole Numbers Comparing Whole Numbers Adding and Subtracting Whole Numbers Adding Whole Numbers and Applications Subtracting Whole Numbers and Applications Estimation Multiplying and Dividing Whole Numbers Multiplying Whole Numbers and Applications Dividing Whole Numbers and Applications Properties of Whole Numbers Properties of Laws and Whole Numbers The Distributive Property Introduction to Fractions and Mixed Numbers Introduction to Fractions and Mixed Numbers Proper and Improper Fractions Factors and Primes Simplifying Fractions Comparing Fractions.

GOAL 2: Introduction to Decimals Decimals and Fractions U.S. Customary Units of Measurement Length Weight Capacity Metric Units of Measurement The Metric System Converting within the Metric System Basic Geometric Concepts and Figures Figures in 1 and 2 Dimensions Properties of Angles Perimeter, Circumference, and Area Quadrilaterals.

Resources Included: All content materials are included, though it is recommended that students have access to paper, pencils, and a calculator while completing work online.

Scoring System: This course does not produce a final score within Blackboard. All scoring is kept within the individual student's EdReady dashboard. Students can track their progress over time, starting from their initial goal score set by a diagnostic test. This score increases toward a target score of 100, indicating mastery has been demonstrated for all skills contained within the goal's scope of study.

Time Commitment: EdReady Math courses are for personalized enrichment or remediation. They do not follow a standardized pacing guide and may vary greatly in the length of time required for individual students to complete the content. Year round courses are open entry, in that students may start on any date during the Year Round session. However, there is an defined end date and students do not have a "year" to work on courses. Students must finish all Year Round courses by the session end date in mid August.

Technology Requirements: Students will require a computer device with access to YouTube.

Academic Support Available: N/A - EdReady Math is a content-only online math program that can be used in local educational programs to support Tier 1 blended learning environments or to support Tier 2 or Tier 3 systems of support for math interventions and progress monitoring. Enrollment in EdReady Math is not accompanied by the support of an online instructor. Required Assessment: Each EdReady Math Goal added by the student to his/her dashboard will require completion of a diagnostic test that will serve as the basis to establish a personalized study path for each student. Thereafter, students will complete short assessments for each lesson skill not yet mastered.

Technical Skills Needed: No special skills are required beyond being able to operate a computer and use word processing software.

Additional Information: Students will locate unique goal keys within Blackboard as well as instructions on how to set up their EdReady accounts.
